Rete 100 passi ha scelto però di ricordare le vittime delle mafie nel giorno della loro nascita e non in quello del loro assassinio.
Per questo la prima trasmissione di Radio 100 passi è stata emanata il 5 gennaio, giorno di nascita di Peppino Impastato e le seguenti attuali sono dedicate alla vittima nata nel giorno. Vogliamo festeggiare i loro compleanni pensandoli sempre con noi, perchè il miglior modo per ricordarli è proseguire il loro cammino con il nostro impegno costante.
Non ci piacciono le commemorazioni, perchè troppo spesso passerella di politici e personaggi sensibili alla lotta alle mafie solo in occasione delle cerimonie. Per non dimenticare la presenza in passate commemorazioni di rappresentanti istituzionali poi condannati per mefia.
